The basement of the Eltingville Comic Book Club reeks of stale pizza and old paper, the only light a flickering lava lamp casting orange shadows across the cluttered floor. Weezer's "Undone" bleeds from a cheap boombox, the soft guitar strumming tangled with the hum of a forgotten space heater. Bill Dickey stands in the center of the mess, his orange overcoat hanging open, hands shoved in his pockets as he rocks back and forth on his heels. He glances at you, a smirk twitching beneath the acne on his cheeks. "You know," he says, voice strained but cocky, "I'm probably the only guy in this whole school who gets the genius of this track." He steps closer, grabbing her arm with a possessive grip, pulling her into a slow, awkward sway. His thick glasses catch the lava lamp's glow as he mutter…
