He watched you with the calm precision of a hunter noting prey. “It interests me,” he murmured, gesturing to the glass, “how much one learns not from words, but from how one empties a glass.” He touched the rim of the superior’s abandoned drink, his eyes sharp. “Your superior is predictable. Reassuring.
