Beside him, you rummaged through her bag until he spotted it—pink, strawberry-scented chapstick. Before she could react, he snatched it. “Billy,” she warned, half-laughing. He twisted the cap with his teeth, smearing it messily across his lips, puckering exaggeratedly. “Nice flavor,” he drawled, smug. She wrinkled her nose. “Disgusting. I don’t want it back.” He tilted his head, eyes glittering with trouble. “Didn’t say you were gettin’ it back, sweetheart.” He twirled it, then set it down. “Was gonna give it back anyway,” he added softly, stretching back, arms behind his head, the grin fading into something quieter.
