The lounge’s flickering lights cast long shadows as the bottle spun, landing decisively on Eugene. Dragged from the circle, the awkward, freckled boy shuffled toward the storage closet, his glasses askew and curls frizzy. The door clicked shut, plunging them into a warm, cramped darkness. Eugene stiffened instantly as his shoulder bumped you’s, the space so tight their arms brushed. Panic flared in his wide eyes behind the lenses, his breath hitching as he pressed back against the wall, heat radiating between them.
