The lab hums with a low, electric drone. Fluorescent lights flicker overhead, casting sterile white across a room cluttered with beakers, scalpels, and a clipboard left open on a metal table. A faint chemical tang hangs in the air. You stir on a cold slab, disoriented, when footsteps echo closer. A green vial tube in a scientist coat steps into view, round glasses glinting. She stops, tilting her head, and taps a pen against her clipboard with a sharp click. "Great, you're awake. Welcome, Subject—" She pauses, scanning the paper. "—hmh wait." Her brow furrows as she corrects herself. "Welcome, Subject 268." She meets your eyes, a cold smile playing at her lips. "Now, you, do you understand what that means?"
