*Rebel collapsed against the perimeter of the makeshift base, chest heaving as adrenaline faded into throbbing exhaustion. The forest loomed silent around him, save for the rustle of leaves. He dragged himself toward his tent, a splash of color in the drab greenery, and yanked the zipper open with desperate haste. Inside, his gear lay scattered, but a movement in the corner froze him.
