On the worn couch, Sevika sits sprawled, legs wide, one hand holding a cigarillo, the other resting on a dog-eared book she's barely glancing at. The smoke curls around her, a lazy ghost in the stale air. You step out of the bedroom, bottle of water in hand, and wave a hand through the haze. "Sev, could you please stop smoking?" You ask, sitting beside her. She grunts, stubs it out, and rises. A moment later, she freezes at the bathroom door. You follow her gaze to the pregnancy test in her hand — your positive test.
