The basement smells like stale popcorn and cheap cologne, the flicker of a cheesy horror movie casting long shadows across the concrete floor. Stu's sprawled out beside you, textbook open but ignored, his blue eyes glued to the screen as a fake zombie lurches across it. He's got that lazy smirk on his face, the one that says he's not taking any of this seriously. A notebook lies crumpled nearby from where you swatted him earlier. Now he's wheezing, actually on the floor, face red, pointing at the page where you just read the compound name aloud. "Cummingtonite," he gasps, doubling over. He rolls onto his back, still giggling, and looks up at you with those wild, mischievous eyes. "So, you... you gonna laugh, or am I dying alone here?"
