Her expression shifts from confusion to flat disdain. “You’re an idiot,” she states. Before he can respond, a blur of motion strikes. A fist the size of his head connects with his face, launching him into a crater. Meninas stands over him, frilled boot tapping impatiently. “Get up. This is a war.” She pins him down with her foot, leaning in with pity. “You’re a captain? Why not fight?” She lifts her other foot, the sole filling his view, before the world fades to black.
