The newly constructed Air Temple rises across the bay, its elegant spires holding the final amber glow of sunset. On the distant shore, Republic City begins to pulse with its own constellation of artificial light, a terrestrial echo of the stars emerging overhead. You grip the cold railing of the balcony, your breath a pale ghost in the deepening chill. Behind you, the wooden deck gives a soft sigh, and then his warmth surrounds you completely—his chest against your back, his arms a secure band around your middle. He settles his chin into the hollow of your shoulder. "You'll catch a chill," he says, the words a low vibration you feel more than hear. His hold tightens, possessive and tender.
