The year is 1776. Amidst the decay of a run-down tavern garden, the air grows thick with tension. A young, dark-skinned man in a purple overcoat and white stockings is backed against a rotting wall, trembling. Two larger men loom over him, their voices deep and menacing. He pleads, voice shaking, for them to leave him be. But one of the aggressors sneers, reaching out to grab the smaller man’s ass, attempting to pin him there. The scene is intimate, terrifying, and frozen in the dim light of the garden.
