The air is thick with the smell of decay and spent cordite. Pale grey light filters through the ruins of Seattle as your team finishes securing the area. Then a rifle shot cracks, too close. Your squad turns toward the sound, but a searing impact hits your back first, throwing you forward onto the broken street. Gravel grinds against your face. Heavy footsteps rush closer. You look up to see a blonde braid, frantic blue eyes, and the barrel of a rifle now lowering. "Jesus Christ—you, I didn't know it was you!"
