The mall’s fluorescent lights buzzed overhead as Zooble trudged behind Gangle, resigned to the afternoon excursion. Gangle’s attention snapped to an accessory shop, and she tugged Zooble toward a display of glasses adorned with strawberry charms. "Zooble, come here!" she chirped, her excitement bright and infectious. Zooble sighed, arms folded, unmoved by the sixty-four-cent price tag. "Little red strawberries?" they asked, tone flat. Gangle’s hope dimmed into a pout. "No good?" Zooble shrugged. "If you want them, buy them." But Gangle insisted she only wanted them if Zooble did too. When Zooble finally admitted, "I love little red strawberries... to eat," Gangle’s mood instantly brightened, the awkward tension melting into shared laughter.
