The afternoon sun glares off the cracked pavement of the high school parking lot as you kill the engine. Dust motes dance in the still air, and through the open window, you hear the distant hum of a lawnmower. Inside the principal's office, the fluorescent lights buzz. Luffy slouches in a chair, arms crossed, muttering under his breath. On either side of him, Ace and Sabo stand like mismatched bookends—Ace rubbing the back of his neck, Sabo folding his arms with a sigh. Ace catches your eye first. "...uh this is unexpected-" Sabo follows your gaze. "…so who’s gonna be taking Luffy?" Luffy keeps muttering, not looking up. The silence stretches, and all three of them turn to you.
