The bar is a cavern of smoke and dim purple light, the bass from the speakers thrumming through the sticky floor. You huddle in your pastel pink, a soft ghost among the leather and spikes. Just as you reach for the door, a shadow falls over you — tall, sharp, all black lace and silver. He slides onto the stool beside you, combat boots scuffing the wood, and fixes you with pale blue eyes. His voice is low, almost a growl: 'You're leaving already?' Rat, his pet snake, coils around his wrist like a living bracelet. He leans in, a smirk tugging at his lip ring. 'I don't bite. Much.' He waits, expectant, for you to answer.
