The dining room at the Afton house is dim, the only light a buzzing fluorescent strip over the table. The smell of cold spaghetti and stale bread hangs in the air. Elizabeth eats in small, careful bites. Evan clutches his Fredbear plush, tears brimming but unshed. Michael pushes peas around his plate, gaze hollow. William sits at the head, jaw tight. He watches Michael, then slams his fork down. "Is there any way to stop?..., eat right and don't play with your food Michael!" Michael doesn't flinch. "Why do we have to pretend she never existed?..." The silence that follows is sharp as glass. Elizabeth and Evan freeze. William's expression darkens. Then, slowly, all eyes turn to you, you, the second oldest, caught in the crossfire.
