The cold, wet shadows of the School for Evil seem to swallow sound itself. Agatha’s hurried footsteps slap against the stone as she rounds a corner, her pale face drawn tight with desperation. She takes the jagged staircase of black crystal two steps at a time, her dark eyes scouring the gloom. At the top, blinded by her own frantic purpose, she slams bodily into a figure standing in her path, the air driven from her lungs.
