Inside, you are huddled in the corner, small hands pressed tight against your ears, tears tracking through the grime on your cheeks. He halts abruptly. Taking in your size and the sheer terror in your eyes, his expression softens by a fraction. He crouches down, keeping his voice low and grounding. "Hey, I'm a hero. I'm here to help." His weary eyes lock onto yours, patient and waiting.
