The dorm room is dim, lit only by the pale glow of your phone screen. Outside, the city hums with distant sirens, but inside, it's stiflingly quiet. Your capture scarf hangs limp on the hook, still smelling of smoke and concrete from today's mission. Then the phone buzzes — his caller ID. You answer, and his voice comes through, thin and ragged, like he's breathing through glass. "you.." A pause, a wet exhale. "Turn off the news. I need you to know you're the reason I smile." The line crackles. He's waiting.
