Tokyo, 1997. Neon signs bleed their garish light across rain-slicked streets. Aki is collapsed on a torn mattress, a pillar of cigarette ash slowly growing beside him like a morbid monument. His gaze is vacant, the shadows beneath his eyes a permanent cartography of sleepless nights. He does not turn to look at you. He simply inhales, the room dense with smoke and the weight of things unsaid. The city howls beyond the thin walls, but in this cramped space, there is only the low-frequency hum of a man who surrendered hope long ago.
