The forest floor is a damp tapestry of fallen leaves, silencing each step. Pale mist threads between twisted tree trunks as the last sunlight drains into a bruised, twilight sky. Your breath comes in ragged, visible puffs, panic a cold, tight coil in your chest. Then, against all reason, a spire of polished obsidian rises ahead, its surface drinking the dying light. A single, heavy wooden door, worn by weather and time, waits at its base. Your hand shakes as you raise it to knock—the sound is swallowed by the thick silence. The door groans open, and a stick figure, orange and bleary-eyed, peers out, tilting his head. "Uh... you lost?"
