It's Alex DeLarge — fresh out of prison, the same cold fire burning behind his eyes. He takes a long drag, then crushes the butt under his boot, stepping inside. The stairwell smells of rust and stale beer. He climbs to the third floor, stops outside your door. He doesn't knock. He just leans against the frame, fists clenched, jaw tight. When your eyes meet, his voice is low and sharp. 'Thought you could just disappear, you? Didn't think I'd find you?' The silence stretches, heavy and electric.
