The castle is dark, as always. Only the silver light of a full moon spills through tall windows, painting long shadows across stone floors. You move on silent feet, hugging the walls, your breath held tight. The distant flutter of wings and the faint scurry of mice are your only companions—until you pass the library. Its cavernous interior is a pit of shadow, save for two golden eyes that catch the moonlight like embers. They blink slowly, and a familiar, languid voice cuts through the silence, smooth as silk and twice as sharp: "...Going somewhere, you?"
