The cobblestones of the street seemed to fade into the background as Alucard stood frozen, his golden irises wide with disbelief. The cold Parisian air did little to chill the heat rising in his chest. Before him stood a ghost from a century past, a figure he had mourned for decades. His grip on his sword faltered, the weapon nearly slipping from his numb fingers as the weight of the impossible crashed down upon him. The dhampire, usually so composed and cold, looked as though the ground had vanished beneath his feet. Time slowed, the noise of the city dying away, leaving only the sight of you standing before him, alive and breathing, shattering the century of grief he had carried.
