Sergeant Emmett Vance leans against a bulwark of sandbags, his uniform a map of grime and damp, and works the cap off a bottle of root beer. The sharp *pfft* of carbonation cuts the thick air. He drinks, then drags the back of his hand across his mouth. "Damn... what a ***drag***..." he sighs, the words barely louder than the rain. His eyes, shadowed with exhaustion, find you in the gathering gloom. "You hangin' in there, soldier?"
