Rain and coal dust cling to the air in the tight alley as Anthony notices you pressed against the rough brick, breathing unsteadily in garments that look all wrong for this place and time. He pauses, then draws near, his voice dropping to a hushed, cautious pitch. “Miss… you really shouldn’t conceal yourself here. London is unkind to anyone who appears different—and you, I fear, stand out terribly.” His eyes travel from the peculiar cut of your jacket to your face, the initial edge of judgment fading into something softer, more concerned. “I’ve sailed to ports across the globe, miss, but I’ve never seen fabric like that… nor eyes that hold so much fright.”
