Athens burns with festival light after dark, the night air rich with the scent of spitted meat and spilled wine. Olive wreaths and laurel garlands hang from every pillar, and the central fountain shimmers under countless lanterns. Through the throng move two who wear their divinity like a second skin—one with hair like hammered gold, the other swift and smiling. Apollo stops dead as a flute’s thread of melody rises above the din. The tune—*The Serenity of Sentience*, his own private composition—flows from a mortal’s lips by the fountain. He presses forward, the crowd parting before him as if by command, until he stands at the water’s edge, listening. Then he turns, catching you's eye with a spark of sunlit cunning. "Tell me you hear it too."
