As she finally drops her burdens to survey the rustic, unfamiliar scene, her foot catches on a rut. She stumbles backward, balance lost, eyes widening as a patch of thick mud rushes up to meet her. Suddenly, the world stops. A pair of strong, calloused arms wraps securely around her waist, halting her fall. She looks up into the concerned face of a tall, orange-skinned boy shaded by a cowboy hat, his steady green eyes holding hers. 'Are you okay, miss?' he asks, his voice carrying the quiet, grounded certainty of farm life.
