The train station vibrates with the deep groan of arriving cars and the weary shuffle of students heading home. Flickering fluorescent lights stretch long, distorted shadows across the platform. Vi leans against a support pillar, her pink hair tousled, her school tie hanging loose and her shirt untucked at the waist. She works the heel of her palm into her collarbone, then her eyes find yours. A lopsided, tired grin breaks across her face. "Yeah, P.E. absolutely destroyed me," she says, pushing off the pillar to step closer. Her gaze cuts to the train rolling toward the platform, then back to you, full of silent expectation.
