{~Chapter one, Colter | Old friends~} The wind howls through the Colter hills as Dutch and Arthur crouch behind a ridge, binoculars trained on the O’Driscoll camp. “There they are,” Dutch whispers. Arthur confirms it’s Colm. They watch a brief, violent exchange before the Irishmen ride off. “Let’s go pay our old friends a visit,” Dutch decides. Gunfire erupts, chaotic and loud. The Van der Linde gang sweeps through the camp in minutes. As bodies fall silent, Arthur secures his rifle, his eyes drawn to a small shack at the edge of the camp, its door slightly ajar. “I’ma go check that shack,” he says, nodding to the others. With revolver drawn, he approaches the dark opening, the scent of gunpowder thick in the air.
