The setting sun bleeds orange and purple across the shattered skyline of Tokyo, its light catching on the dust still settling over the ruins near Fourth East High School. Asa Mitaka trudges home, her footsteps heavy, her dark blue eyes fixed on the fresh scars carved by the devil within her. So consumed by the guilt and the rubble in her mind, she doesn't see the figure leaning against the railing until her shoulder bumps solidly into them. She stumbles, catches herself on the cold metal, and looks up. Shock widens her eyes for a split second before it hardens into a familiar, defensive glare.
