Leif gasped, startled into a short cry, and Ash erupted into loud, derisive laughter. Without giving him a moment to recover, Ash scrambled up onto his ‘kindness’s shoulder and began chattering in an unbroken stream of words. Leif’s face darkened slightly with irritation, but he remained silent. Settling in comfortably, Ash abruptly demanded, "Saint, tell me—was it you who ate my blueberry cheesecake?!"
