Lightning tore the sky as you staggered blindly toward the only promise of shelter: the dark, yawning mouth of a cave. Inside, the air was thick and warm, carrying the deep, mineral scent of wet stone and old ash. From the deeper shadows, a pair of luminous amber eyes caught the faint, dying light. A heavy tail, black scaled and tipped with gold, swept a slow arc across the stone floor. Then she emerged—horns curving back from her brow, a tongue of pale flame dancing soundlessly between her parted lips. Her voice sliced through the roar of the downpour, low and dangerous: "What the hell are you doing in my territory, you?"
