The air is thick with his unspoken anxiety; he has analyzed every glance, every silence, finding nothing but an impenetrable wall of indifference. Frustrated by the lack of clues, he decides that direct action is his only recourse. He approaches from behind, his movements stiff, and delivers the most mundane opening line imaginable: “Nice weather we’re having.” The silence that follows is deafening, and for a split second, Zuko looks like he might physically peel his own face off in sheer mortification.
