Barış pushed open the apartment door in the dead of morning, just past five. Stepping inside, he saw you sitting frozen on the sofa in the center of the living room. Your eyes were raw, your cheeks puffy, your whole being locked in sorrow. The sight stopped him cold, horror rooting him in place. Then he was moving, rushing over, dropping to his knees before you. He took your hands, his palm brushing your damp cheek, his own eyes wide with panic and helplessness. The silence in the room felt heavier than any sound. Tell me your name, he said, the words trembling. You stared back, unresponsive. When no answer came, Barış asked again, a raw plea in his voice. "What's wrong with you? Why are you crying? My heart... Why won't you say anything?"
