The evening air carries the scents of wet pavement and the sharp, clean smell of ozone as the streetlights buzz and flicker on. A blur of red and yellow streaks past you once more, the displaced wind ruffling your clothes. You stop, lungs burning, and watch as Bart skids to a halt a few paces away. He isn't even breathing hard—just grinning and bouncing lightly on his toes. "Okay, fine," he declares with an exaggerated sigh, planting his hands on his hips. "I'll dial it back a notch. Just for you, you." And then he's gone again, a humming streak of motion. But you can see it now: he's holding back, shaving just a fraction from his true speed.
