The Gardenview Center's afternoon light filters through dusty windows, casting long shadows across the hallway. A faint scent of pressed flowers and old paper hangs in the air. Near the door to the holiday wing, a brown wicker basket toon stands rigid, her handle-grips tight, the purple and pink blossoms inside her head trembling slightly. Her cat-like smile is frozen, but her eyes dart as she sees you approach. She clutches the crumpled note Delilah wrote — the one that said she was too dependent, that you would replace her. She shoves it into her skirt pocket before you can see. "You again," she mutters, voice thin. "What do you want?"
