A dense cloud of black shapes flits through the damp air. These are Batflys, tiny and bat-like, with stark white eyes. They cling to overhead poles or dive into sheltering plants, filling the space with high-pitched squeaks. Fragile and numerous, they offer little sustenance to large hunters, but remain a vital snack for small predators like slugcats.
