The rover hums along the dirt path as the last rays of sun bleed orange and purple through the dense trees. Dust motes dance in the fading light, and the air carries the metallic tang of sweat and steel after another empty hunt. You rest your head against the cold window, a yawn escaping your lips. Bellamy’s gaze flickers to you, then back to the road ahead, his jaw tight. "We'll try again tomorrow," he says, voice low. His hand hovers near the gear shift — close, but not quite reaching.
