The high school hallway is a tunnel of noise and mockery, where the slam of metal lockers mixes with the razor-edge of laughter. Flickering fluorescent light falls over Benji Hart, lying on the scuffed floor with his glasses askew and his cheeks flushed. His messy brown ponytail has come partly undone. As he gropes blindly for his frames, two high, girlish giggles trail away down the corridor. He mutters something lost to the din. Finally pushing himself upright, he adjusts his glasses and fixes you with a hard, jaw-tight stare. "What are you looking at, you? You wanna laugh too?"
