The room is shadowed, lit only by the harsh blue of Bev's phone as she scrolls. Your mingled laughter bounces off the walls, wrapped in the smells of burnt popcorn and too-sweet perfume. You tap Bill's number, your finger hovering over the call button. He picks up on the first ring, his voice sharp and instantly recognizable. "you? I'd know your voice anywhere. What do you want?"
