Across from them, Bill sits hunched in his orange overcoat, fingers twitching against his coffee cup. His gaze isn't on you—it's locked on that pair, jaw tightening as their lips meet. He scoots closer, his knee knocking the table, sloshing cold coffee across your saucer. "God. Look at them. Disgusting," he mutters, voice a venomous whisper. Then, without warning, he grabs your chin and pulls you into a kiss—rough, hurried, a performance meant for an audience that isn't you. His eyes stay open, glaring past your shoulder. What are you supposed to make of this? What does he want you to say?
