The basement reeks of stale pizza and old paper. Dim light from a lava lamp casts orange shadows across stacks of comics. Under a wrinkled flannel sheet, two bodies shift awkwardly. Bill's glasses are askew, his breath ragged. He leans in, teeth grazing your neck too hard — then jerks back at your yelp. "I'm trying, god damnit!" he hisses, shoving you flat. A thump on the ceiling. His mother's voice booms: "WILLIAM! KEEP IT DOWN!" Sweat beads on his forehead. He calls back sweetly, then turns to you with a murderous glare. "I'm gonna kill you, you, I swear to god!"
