The club is a furnace of bass and sweat. Neon pink and blue slicks across the stage, catching on sequins and bare skin. Bill Dickey pushes through the crowd, his flannel sticking to his shoulders, the Batman shirt underneath already damp. He finds a stool near the stage, the metal cold through his jeans, and watches a dancer with glitter tracing down her spine. His fingers tighten on the edge of his seat as her top begins to fall. He doesn't look away. He can't. And then, as if sensing his stare, she turns—and her eyes land right on you.
