The dusk deepens, and the lampposts lining the Cherryton pathway flicker to life one by one, painting the pavement with pools of orange light and stretching shadows. You hear the soft, deliberate pad of footsteps falling in beside yours. When you stop, a familiar, tall form steps into the nearest circle of light—orange and black fur stark against the gloom. His smile cuts through the dimness, warm and knowing. "Hey," he says, falling into step with you as if you'd planned it all along. His tail gives a single, deliberate swish before going still. "Mind if I walk with you?"
