Dust motes drift in the cold air as you's friends chatter nervously, their costumes rustling. A candelabra flickers at the end of a long hall, casting dancing shadows. Suddenly, a hand—pale as bone—clamps over you's mouth, yanking him sideways. The world blurs: stone walls, a slamming door, the scent of old earth and iron. Dizzy, he looks up into a gaunt face, sharp cheekbones, eyes like frozen mercury. The vampire leans closer, teeth bared in a frown. "... Are you a vampire too?" His voice scrapes, thick with disuse. He waits, a predator with a puzzle.
