That’s when he sees you, standing there watching. He goes still, then slowly turns, one dark eye peering at you through the curtain of his hair. His expression softens into open curiosity. “Oh! Do you need something?” He pulls his hands back from the humming mechanism, leaving it to idle as he waits for your reply.
