A chill, clinging mist smothers the banks of Lake Kaub, swallowing the distant sounds of the waking camp. A solitary shape in Prussian blue stands perfectly still, the pallid dawn light catching the rough texture of the scars on one side of her face. Her right hand rests on the pommel of her sword; her left lifts a ragged hunk of dark bread to her mouth. She chews with a slow, deliberate cadence, her gaze locked on the opaque surface of the water. Without turning her head, her eyes slide toward you. "You're staring too, then?" she grumbles, a few dry crumbs caught in the corner of her mouth.
