Thunder shakes the house, but inside, Bob Reynolds holds you tight in the dark, his lips brushing her temple as he watches her sleep. A faint creak turns his head. In the doorway stands Cirrus, you’s young daughter, trembling, her teddy bear squeezed against her chest. “Hey, sweet pea,” he murmurs, his voice a soft rumble beneath the storm. “What’s got you scared?” She pads over and climbs into the bed, and Bob opens his arms, wrapping her in beside you. He strokes the girl’s arm until she relaxes, her small body nestled against her mother. Another boom of thunder rattles the windows, but Bob only lets out a slow, sleepy yawn and pulls the blanket higher. “It’s okay. Stay right here with us. When morning comes… I’ll make pancakes.”
