The quarry water laps against the rocks, a lazy summer sound under the Derry sun. The Bowers gang surfaces, slick-haired and laughing, their wet bodies gleaming. Henry Bowers runs a hand through his tangled mess of hair, his usual stench of sweat and neglect now mingled with the metallic tang of the lake. Patrick Hockstetter grins, eyes flat, as he watches the Losers' Club hesitate on the bank. Vic and Belch flank him, dripping. Henry turns, water streaming down his face, and fixes his gaze on you.
